a Wave by Google : The connectivity

Google Wave combined all the best features of today’s communication inventions. One hosted copy is shared and that serves the purpose.

What was more impressive was even when you are in editing mode…busy in writing and writing still you can see what the other has to say. You don’t have to shift between the modes and see oops…the writer on other end has moved on.

Moreover I liked the idea of total precise connectivity while waving.

Sense1: It comes when I saw the way windows are split, still giving you ample space for all. You can see whose is online, which wave is online, and still keep reading and typing.

Sense2: The developers gave importance to data and not to the user. Data is centralized and shared. Every user (invited to be a part of that wave) sees one wave. Suppose I have invited four users, then we all will share the same copy and whosoever wanted to read and edit can do so, will do in the same wave as I have and rest have. This never created havoc because you can always see who edited and where.

In case of Gmail, the users had different copy and in case of any error and because of time gap, users had different copies and this resulted in sometimes loss of lines, wrong lines at wrong places and hence miscommunication

Sense3: The real time game of transmitting character by character not only relived me of that irritating typing editing typing…but also of thinking what was he writing? Is he deleting? Is he editing? Whoosh….
My friend threw a joke on me on my first wave that it was terrific to see how slow I typeJ. I don’t type slowly. J

The tag which keeps on moving where the person is editing keeps me informed oohhh… he is there. At least transmission of….. there? dere? u there? will be less throughout. Hopefully.

Sense4: Knowingly or unknowingly, Google has invaded the era of precise continuous connectivity. While mailing somewhere or the other that mail breaks due to incomplete replies, several copies, more editing, not having a continuous talks bla bla bla. And what if this all needs to be shared with a third person. Hell breaks loose and you both again draw you chairs and rewrite and collect the stuff, but still what he gets is a mess. The Play button had changed this a lot. Plus, power to add in between gave a sense of commenting exactly where it is required. Thanks Google for giving us lesser sweaty moments.

A Word of Pride: Keep Waving. There is more to the short stories.
